Profile

Mr. Abid S. Mustikhan is basically a graduate in Electric Engineering from Michigan and he is  from Balochistan. He opted to join the Management Cadre in 1982 to be selected as the youngest Managing Director of Chiltan Ghee Mills at Quetta, Ghee Corporation of Pakistan, Ministry of Industries, Government of Pakistan and he managed this Industrial Unit as its Managing Director till 1986. Then joined the Thatta Sugar Mills as its CEO and operated the mills with its best performance in years. In 1991, he joined the Resource Development Corporation (Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Government of Pakistan) as its Project Director of the  Saindak Copper Gold project for its construction phase.

By virtue of an Agreement with the MCC, RDC (Government of Pakistan) had its own obligations to meet and Mr. Mustikhan was responsible as Project Director to ensure this. Having led RDC to meet its obligations in time, the pre-stripping of the South Ore Body and the construction of the project was completed within record time. This was the turning point of Mr. Mustikhan to become involved in Mining and exploration of Minerals in Balochistan.

Mr. Mustikhan has deep rooted experience in the mining and its extractive sector covering small scale and largescale mining. His prominent article “Why Revisit the Mineral Policies” has been published by a prominent magazine of the Pakistan Armed Forces. By also being a freelance writer, there are many published articles in the prominent newspapers of Pakistan. By virtue of being a Baloch, he is well conversant with the mineral reserves in the Province of Balochistan, their locations and who is who in the potential areas. He has in-depth knowledge of the Mineral Resources of Balochistan.

During his tenure as Managing Director of the Chiltan Ghee Mills at Quetta, he went through several training course in Finance for Non-Financial Executives, In House Training for Chief Executives by PIM, Production Process and Control, etc. that tremendously improved his skills to manage the organizations that he has worked for. He has also worked in the U.S.A. for a short while.

Having been attached with the Chinese in some way or the other for the last 30 years, he has developed skills to negotiate with the Chinese while understanding their psyche due to this long association.

He is doing and has done philanthropic work for improving the livelihood of the people of Balochistan and the FAO project for Agriculture & Livestock covering Nushki, Chagai, Kharan, Washuk and Panjgur was approved on the basis of his Concept Paper where the Australian Government gave a grant of AUD12.00 Million for the project for the first year. The USAID financed the project for the subsequent year. By virtue of these philanthropic aspects, Saindak has never received any threat and has experienced no Security Issues till date.

Presently, he is an Independent Director on the Board of Saindak Metals and Chairman of its Business Development Committee, member Human Resource Committee & Member Audit Committee. He is also one of the two Independent Directors on the Board of Public Private Partnership, Government of Balochistan.

His mother tongue is Balochi but has fluency in English, Urdu, can speak Brahvi, Sindhi and understand Punjabi and some Pashto.
